“The Day the Music Died” - February 3, 1959On February 3rd, 1959 musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa. Pilot Roger Peterson, who was later found to be unqualified to fly in poor weather conditions, was also killed in the crash.
