Chris Cornell has shuffled his weekend schedule around a bit. Yesterday he announced that he would be “opening” for Barack Obama, along with indie rock band The National, this Saturday at one of the President’s campaign stops in Des Moines, Iowa. Later in the day, he posted a message on his saying that he had to cancel his appearance at Jay-Z’s Made In America Festival this Sunday due to “scheduling conflicts.”
On February 21, Buddy Guy was part of a group of musicians who performed at the White House as part of a salute to blues music. While Mick Jagger passed the mic off to Obama that night, it was Guy who convinced the president to perform with the group for “Sweet Home Chicago.”
President Obama famously sang a few lines of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” at a January fundraising event – a cover heard ’round the world, thanks to the power of YouTube. However, music rights management company BMG isn’t exactly pleased with the viral footage of Obama’s “Let’s Stay Together,” a song they own.
