Axl Rose has been an outspoken critic of president-elect Donald Trump, a point he drove home during a Mexico City concert last night. During the show, Guns N’ Roses presented a larger-than-life Trump piñata and various blunt objects to strike it with. Then the band invited some fans onstage and Rose told them, “Express yourself however you feel.” The effigy was destroyed within minutes.
Rose’s recent critiques of Trump have been largely confined to Twitter: He told the incoming administration to “get on with it or get out of the kitchen” when brouhaha over VP-elect Mike Pence’s evening on Broadway. Rose later tweeted that “good people don’t listen to, acknowledge, nominate or elect people like [Attorney General appointee] Senator Jeff Sessions.” Lately, Axl has been swapping a line in the song “Civil War” with “Look at the fear that Trump is feeding.”
