Cyndi Lauper and James Corden Duet on ‘Girls Just Want Equal Funds’

By Annie Reuter

Cyndi Lauper brought her contagious energy to The Late, Late Show with James Corden for a clever parody of her 1983 hit “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” The song, recast as “Girls Just Want Equal Funds,” featured lyrics about female equality regarding equal salaries in the work place.

“Oh mama, dear, we’re not the fortunate ones! / ’cause girls they want equal funds,” Lauper sang at the opening.

Midway through her performance, Corden joined in, dressed in the same ensemble Lauper wore, right down to her pink hairstyle.

“And if you ask us on a date / Oh boys, be ready to pay / We’ll get the check when we make the same,” she continued. Watch the performance in its entirety below.

Lauper’s new album, Detour, is out now.
