1980 – During an Eagles concert in Long Beach, tempers boiled over between members glen Frey and Don Felder, who spent the entire show describing the beating each planned for the other after the show. Frey to Felder: ‘Only three more songs until I kick your ass, pal.’ The feud spilled over into their next album which was mixed by the twi on opposite coasts after the two decided they couldn’t be in the same state much less the same studio.
2006 – Former culture Club singer Boy George (O’Dowd) was ordered to do community service in New York by picking up trash on the city’s streets after pleading guiltyto false reposting of an incident. He had called police with a bogus report of a burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment and the responding officers found cocaine inside.
1992 – Michael Jackson made an unscheduled appearance on his hotel balcony in London after a man threatened to jump from an apartment building across the street if he didn’t see Michael (who was in the UK for a series of concerts). MJ spent a couple of minutes waving to the man who then climbed back into the building.
1971 – James Taylor topped the Billboard Hot 100 with the Carole King song “You’ve Got A Friend”. it went on to win the 1971 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance.
1969 – Elvis Presley returned to the stage for a four week engagement at the International Hotel in Las Vegas – his first live show since 1969. Marty Lacker was Elvis’ best man at his wedding, and grew up with Elvis in Memphis. He and I spoke a few years ago and he told me an amazing story about elvis’ opening night in Las Vegas that I’d never heard before, and left me stunned…
