1977 – Barry Manilow scored his third #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Looks Like We Made It”.  Some people thought he was singing ‘Looks Like Tomatoes’, but that’s another story.

1988 – After 49 weeks on the Billboard album chart, Def Leppard album ‘Hysteria’ finally made it to #1.

1988 – Richard Marx topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Hold On To The Nights”, his first #1 single.

1989 – Ringo Starr kicked off his first tour since the Beatles break up, with a show in Dallas.  His first all-starr band included Joe Walsh, Billy Preston, and Bruce Springsteen’s sax man clarence Clemons.

2003 – James Brown announced his separation from his fourth wife using an advertisment featuring the Disney character Goofy.  JB placed the notice in Variety magazine, which featured a picture of himself, his wift Tomi Rae, and their two year old son James joseph Brown II, posing with Goofy at Walt Disney World.  Wonder if that story will be in the upcoming movie!

2010 – Surgical instruments allegedly used to conduct Elvis Presley’s autopsy were removed from an upcoming auction amid doubts about their authencity.  How low have we fallen that such items would even be consider for auction.

2001 – 59 year old Paul McCartney, who had lost his first wife Linda to cancer three years earlier, became engaged to 33 year old Heather Mills, ignoring his daughters pleas not to do so.  The pair split five years later and divorced in 2008 with a settlement that cost Sir Paul millions.

Linda was the inspiration for this #1 hit.
