The “Charlie Experience” v.26: I’m In Training
It has been a minute since I have been on the blog to fill you in on the progress, or lack thereof, in my weight loss program.
Well, I am very happy to say that July 5th was my ONE YEAR anniversary of my weight loss journey, or as I like to call it, my lifestyle change. I am still pushing forward. The past year has not been easy at all. It has taken a lot of determination, sweat, and discipline to stick to it. BUT…not anything more than normal. I am NOT a drill sergeant by any means! There have been some “cheating” but I think the difference has been that I understand what I was doing and what I needed to do to get back on track. (My pros over at Red Mountain Weight Loss have helped me with that BIG TIME!)
I have seen people over the past year who I have not seen in a while and they are like “Look at you! Losing some weight!” I cannot begin to tell you how good that feels and how that keeps me moving forward! They ask me, what are you doing? Recently, I have been telling them “I’M IN TRAINING.” They ask, “what are you training for? 5K? And with a smile on my face and a touch of seriousness mixed with some sarcasm, I say “I’m in training for my CLASS REUNION.” LOL!
I mentioned a few blogs ago that I am thinking about heading back to Wisconsin to go to my 30 year class reunion. I am a bit intimidated because I have not been back since my 5 year reunion. This is the 30th. I have not seen my classmates in 25 years other than some pictures I may catch on Facebook or Instagram. I have this image of all my friends. This little capsule with their senior year picture in it. What does my capsule look like? I wanted to just go out there and reunite with old friends, have a couple of beers and share some old stories.
I’m not training for my reunion. I’m training for my life. It is my never ending goal from here on out to do the best I can in being healthy. I leave next week on my adventure back to Wisconsin. Hartland Arrowhead Warhawks Class of 1984…I am headed your way. I’m ready to laugh, share, and see you all. I will keep you in the loop.
