Maybe it’s just me, but I have always been a fan of seeing the original artists stay with their respective bands and belt out the hits the way I remember them. Huey Lewis did it, and he sounded great!

Some groups have replaced their singers, or other players and have tried to move on. Foreigner, for example, has replaced Lou Gramm. The new guy can hit the notes, but does not sound like Lou. Journey has replaced Steve Perry, and Arnel sounds like Steve Perry…from back in the day! Amazing. You can close your eyes and hear it and feel that Steve is still on stage.

This is a video of Steve Perry in St. Paul, Minnesota on Sunday. Now, keep in mind, this is not the Journey band playing, and this is Steve singing again after many years. He did “Open Arms”, and “Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’”. You be the judge here. Would Steve have fit into the current Journey? Should he continue to pursue being on stage? The audience loved it! You tell me?
