The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has just announced most of the presenters for this year’s induction ceremony, taking place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 10. KISS, who have quite publicly announced that they will not perform at the event, will be inducted by guitar virtuoso Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine.
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Michael Stipe of R.E.M. will come out of retirement to do the speech for Nirvana; there’s still no word as to whether or not there will be some sort of tribute to that band at the event.
Linda Ronstadt will be presented by her former guitarist Glenn Frey (the Eagles got their start as her backing band); Ronstadt is unable to perform, as she is battling Parkinson’s disease but rock and country royalty — Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow — will perform a tribute to the legendary singer that is sure to be worth the price of admission.
And in a bit of rather unsurprising news, Bruce Springsteen, inducted in 1999, will do the honors for the E Street Band, who kick off a U.S. tour two days earlier in Cincinnati.
