The picture of Julianna Margulies, who plays Alicia Flores on ‘The Good Wife’, was taken at a People’s Choice awards show, which if last night’s series altering show is any indication, will ocntinue well into the future.
I haven’t missed an episode of ‘The Good wife’ since it debuted on CBS in 2009, so to say I’m vested in the characters is an understatement. What happened on last night’s show came so far out of left field I, along with millions of others, never had time to react. It was one of the few times a television episode completely changed direction for the entire series with one scene – and didn’t leave me feeling like I’d been manipulated or set up in advance.
It came very naturally, suddenly, and violently. A main character was killed off in an instant and we never saw it coming. There was no tearful good bye. No premonition it was about to happen. As in real life it was over in an instant.
And Will Gardner was dead.
For those that missed it, here’s a clip from last night’s show, an explaination from actor Josh Charles, who played Will, on why he left the series (his choice), and an extended preview of the next episode airing next Sunday.
Josh Charles will be on Letterman tonight explaining his exit from the show – CBS 5 at 10:30
Don’t be surprised if last night’s episode reels in an Emmy…it was that good.
As for the future of the show, a new variety of story lines and options have now been opened up, and Michael J. Fox will be back as a regular.
I can’t wait to see where they’re going from here, which is exactly what the writers and producers were shooting for.
