A vegetarian diet is being linked to lower blood pressure.

Research published in “JAMA Internal Medicine” shows a diet that excludes or rarely includes meat is associated with lower blood pressure, compared with diets that include meat.

The benefits are likely because vegetarians eat less sodium and tend to weigh less than their omnivorous counterparts, which reduces their risk for heart disease.
