To celebrate the 40th anniversary of his classic album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton John is releasing a special deluxe edition of the LP this March, complete with an additional disc that features artists like Miguel, Ed Sheeran, Fall Out Boy and the Zac Brown Band covering some of the Rocket Man’s biggest hits.
The bonus tribute album features Sheeran taking lead on “Candle in the Wind,” Miguel putting his own spin on “Bennie and the Jets” with help from Wale and Fall Out Boy—who featured Sir Elton on their latest album, 2013’s Save Rock and Roll—rock out to “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.”
The 2-disc deluxe edition features the original album, along with a second CD filled with all of the above covers and a number of demos and outtakes from the album sessions.
The 4-disc super deluxe version of the album includes everything on the deluxe version, plus the live concert recorded by the BBC at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1973 and the 45-minute long out-of-print film, Elton John and Bernie Taupin Say Goodbye To Norma Jean and Other Things, originally released over 40 years ago.
In related news, John announced that his Las Vegas show, The Million Dollar Piano, will be coming to movie theaters on March 18 and 26. Go here to check for theater listings.
