Typhonn Haiyan devastated the Philippines, and relief efforts are slow, but growing steady. My mother-in-law is Filipino and a lot of her family is there on the islands. Thankfully, her family there is OK and doing what they can to help those in need.

It is no surprise that the band Journey is doing their part as well. Arnel Pineda is the lead singer of the group. He was discovered on YouTube years ago when the band was looking for a new lead singer.

They found Arnel, who sang in cover bands on the islands. He was a perfect fit for the band. Arnel is from the Philippines and now he and the band a spearheading their work to help the people in the Philippines who need help.

So far, Journey, along with Live Nation Entertainment, Creative Artist Agency and their manager John Baruck have come p with $350,000 for the United Nations’ World Food Program.

This money will provide over 1.4 million meals! And they are not done yet. The band set up a page that you can go to and do your part to donate and help those families in need.

Click here to get more info and to make a donation.

You can also instantly donate $10 by texting the word “AID” to 27722. Making a donation will help so many families that need help. I’m sure we will see the fruits of this effort when they come to town in May of 2014! Here is an interview Arnel did with Anderson Cooper at CNN about the work they are doing.
