The “Charlie Experience” v.13: Run For Your Life!
Welcome back to another edition of The “Charlie Experience”.
This has been my adventure in a lifestyle change and weight loss. I can tell you losing weight is not easy.
For the past 3 weeks now, I have been hovering as low as 205, and up to 210. Frustrating. I feel I am eating well, and getting exercise too. So now it is time to KICK IT UP A NOTCH!
I have been surfing the web for ideas and what I have come to the conclusion is that I need to mix it up a bit and take my physical activity up a bit. I have been doing walks in my neighborhood. Some walks are 3.5 miles, some are 5 miles.
Depends on the day, time, and what I have on my daily schedule. At the very least, I am out walking everyday and staying active. So why the stalemate at 208 pounds?
I am going to learn how to RUN. RUN? Are you kidding?
I have no desire to run. I ran cross country when I was in 5th grade and I was bored to tears, so I joined the soccer team. At least you can chase someone and a ball and maybe score a goal. I have had zero desire to run.
Now, I think it is the next step in my exercise plan. I came across this KOOL app for my phone called “The Couch to 5k” and it is a training guide for people like me. People who have not trained to run. People like me who are now interested in starting to run.
First thing they say is DON’T OVERDO IT! This time I am following the directions. It takes you through a 5 minute warm up, then it tells you to run. You run for 60 seconds, then it tells you to walk. Then you walk for 90 seconds…and so on, and so on for 30 minutes.
NICE WORK OUT!
More intense and shorter than a 5 mile walk. I kinda like this. I feel really good after I do it as well. Click here for the link.
Give it a try.
I think you will enjoy this. If you were stuck like me, this may be what you need to go to the next stage in your adventure! Let me know how your new lifestyle is going. I would love to hear from you!
