Carole King’s ‘Beautiful’ Story Comes To Broadway
One of the most talented and successful female songwriters in history’s life story is now becoming a Broadway show and, very appropriately, a musical.
Carole King has composed over 400 songs for nearly 1000 recording artists, many of which became hit singles. She has been inducted into both the Songwriters and Rock And Roll Hall of Fames, and has most recently been dubbed MusiCares Person of the Year. King wrote her first # 1, “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” at the age of 17 and fifty years later she remains one of the most talented and well respected people in the music industry.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is now chronicling that amazing life in music, starting at the very beginning. The show’s website states, “Long before she was Carole King, chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, Brooklyn girl with passion and chutzpah.”
“Beautiful tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband, Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.”
