John Lennon was born October 9, 1940 in Woolton, Liverpool England, 73 years ago today.

I would much rather celebrate today than commemorate the day he died.

Comparing his recordings with The Beatles to his solo efforts is like comparing apples to oranges.  The Beatles placed 75 songs on the Billboard hot 100 chart between 1963 and 1996, while John hit the hot 100 with 19 songs between 1969 and 1988.

Here are John Lennon’s top 10 songs in reverse order from #10 to #1.

I still can’t help but wonder how much music we missed out on when he died…..

10. – 1969 – Give Peace A Chance

  9. – 1971 – Power To The People

 8. – 1981 – Watching The Wheels

 7. – 1974 – #9 Dream

 6. – 1984 – Nobody I Know

 5. – 1971 – Imagine

 4. – 1970 – Instant Karma

 3. – 1981- Woman

 2. – Whatever Gets You Through the Night

 1. – (Just Like) Starting Over
