Record numbers were set this past weekend by movie goers who went to check out this week’s number one film. The trailer alone left you on the edge of your seat so just imagine what an up close or 3D view of the entire film was like. You may be one of the millions that attended making this by far the number one movie of the week. The 3D version accounted for over 80 percent of the weekend gross of “Gravity”. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney deliver riveting performances in this sci-fi thriller which has landed in theaters just in time for fall break. Got an A rating from viewers which means you can expect it to be a big deal for a few weeks at least. Rated PG13
The number two movie this week dropped 37 percent from last week. Another that is perfect if you are looking to get the kids out of the house this week while school is out is “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2”. It doesn’t have much competition in the family movie section this week which means you can expect it to stick around for at least a few more weeks until the next animated film drops on Nov. 1.
Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake made a tough debut up against some pretty big competition and landed at number three this week. Both stars are not happy with the $7mil made in three days, especially after some of their other success in the box office. Justin landed at number one with his comeback album and Ben won himself an Oscar for “Argo”. Needless to say this weak start would be more than just disappointing. This crime drama “Runner Runner” was only rated a C by viewers. Rated R
Here is a look at the entire top five. Hope it helps you decide what to watch this week.
#2. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2
