1970 – Bob Dylan joined Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, and Joan Baez at the Woody Guthrie Memorial Concert that was held at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

1987 – Los Lobos topped the Billboard album chart for the first and only time, with their soundtrack album from the movie ‘La Bamba’.

1990 – Stevie Nicks and Chrisine McVie announced they were leaving Fleetwood Mac at the end of their (then) current tour.  Chrisine’s still gone but Stevie’s back.

2003 – Johnny Cash joined his beloved late wife June when he died of respiratory failure at the age of 71.

1966 – The first episode of The Monkees aired on NBC tv.  titles ‘Royal Flush’, it contained two songs from the first Monkees album: ‘This Just Doesn’t Seem To Be My Day’, and ‘Take A giant Step’, the flip side of ‘Last train To Clarksville’.  In all, 58 first run episodes would run before the show was canceled.
