The Woodstock Music and Art Fair began on this day (August 15th) in 1969.

A crowd exceeding 400-thousand, many without tickets, descended on Max Yasgur‘s farm in Bethel, New York for day-one of the three-day festival.

I was only 14 at the time, but THAT would have been a great show to see!
