Only two of those three names would seen to have anything in common, but an announcement earlier today now ties those three together in a vary logical way.
Clint Eastwood is working to bring the multi-Tony award winning show ‘Jersey Boys’ to the big screen, possibly as early as this Christmas. The hit musical tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons who scored 71 group and solo hits on the Billboard charts between 1956-1980.
Christopher Walken has just signed on to play Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo, the real life mobster who took Frankie and the group under his wing early in their career. Eastwood has cast stage performers as Frankie Valli and original Four Seasons members Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi, and Boardwalk Empire cast member Vincent Piazza as Tommy DeVito.
Filming is expected to begin in September.
When I spoke with Frankie in 2009, we talked about the show, which will be returning to Gammage July 22 through August 10 next year, and I asked him how accurate it was.
As you’ll also hear in this clip from our conversation, he was dead on with his prediction when the film would be made.
