Bobby Sherman is a singer, actor, an occasional songwriter, and a full fledged teen idol of the late 60′s and early 70′s. In 2005 TV Guide ranked him #8 on their list of TV’s Greatest Teen Idols. That former teen idol was born July 22, 1943 – 70 years ago today.
Bobby’s big break came when actor/singer Sal Mineo took him under his wing, which led to a two year gig as a regular on shindig, which led to his role as Jeremy Bolt on Here Come The Brides.
Bobby’s recording career earned him 7 top 40 hits that including seven gold singles and one platinum single, and five gold albums.
Bobby also appeared in an episode of The Monkees and one episode of The Partridge Family, as well as numerous other tv appearances. Bobby’s last concert came on August 25, 2001, and he retired from public life shortly after that. Though he’s stuck to his announcement of retirent , he does do an occasional corporate event and donates his services as a sworn officer with the LAPD and to his foundation which supplies volunteer EMT’s to community events.
What’s Bobby doing to celebrate his birthday? He’s probably at his home in Encino surrounded by his family which includes five grandchildren. And I’d bet a lot of well wishing fans sent messages on his website.
Here’s one more for you Bobby.
