We lost a few musicians recently that I thought we should remember.  First is Marshall Lytle who was the bass player for Bill Haley and his Comets.  He died from lung cancer at the age of 79 on May 25 at his home in New Port Richey, Florida.  He played on “Rock Around The Clock” and “Shake, Rattle, and Roll”.  He was with them during the biggest years of 1951-1955.

We also lost Marvin Junior who was the lead singer of The Dells.  He died Wednesday afternoon from kidney and heart failure at his home in Harvey, Illinois.  He was 77 years old.  Marvin and his group The Dells were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2004, and had hits like “Oh, What A Night”, and “Stay In My Corner”.  I remember playing their records on my classic Lowrider Show on the radio.

We also lost Clarence Burke Jr. who was the lead singer of the Five Stairsteps. He was the lead singer on the 1970’s hit “Oooh Child”. Clarence was 64 and died this past Sunday, one day after his 64th birthday. His cause of death is unknown at this time.

Gone, but never forgotten, their legacy lives in their music.  Pull out those old records and give them a listen again.
