How President Clinton Failed To Reunite Led Zeppelin For ’12-12-12′

In an online 60 Minutes Overtime feature posted Sunday (May 5), it was revealed that President Bill Clinton tried, unsuccessfully, to get Led Zeppelin to reunite for the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy tribute concert.

Over the weekend, CBS’s 60 Minutes profiled the Robin Hood Foundation, the organization that works to help New Yorkers living in poverty. Last year, Robin Hood was behind the televised 12-12-12 concert at Madison Square Garden, which raised $50 million to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.

While the concert attracted major music stars–Bruce Springsteen, Kanye West, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, The Who, the Rolling Stones and Coldplay’s Chris Martin–Robin Hood was determined to reunite Zeppelin for the show. Movie mogul and concert co-producer Harvey Weinstein decided to enlist Bill Clinton, who was already on his way to see the surviving members of the band at the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony.
