Walking into work on his very first day at a new job, A.J. Clemente wasn’t thinking it was also going to be his last.

Clemente was hired at Bismark, North Dakota’s local television station as their new weekend news anchor but sadly, that gig lasted just one day.

At the beginning of the Sunday night newscast, and his first ever broadcast, A.J. didn’t realize the show had started and that his microphone was on when he whispered some expletives to himself. It only took him one second to realize that he was on air.

His co-anchor tried to save the situation by asking him to introduce himself to the viewers. Stumbling on his words, he gave himself a brief introduction but was visibly rattled.

Later in the newscast, his co-anchor read an apology from the station to the public, saying, “Rest assured something like this will never happen again.”

Why? Because A.J. was fired right away, breaking the news on Twitter.

That couldn’t have gone any worse!

Unfortunately KFYRTV has decided to let me go. Thank you to them and everyone in ND for the opportunity and everyone for the support.

However, this may not have been such a bad thing… A.J. has become a news sensation with everyone from ABC to CBS to David Letterman airing the clip and talking about the journalist. He has also been making the rounds himself on TV, being the interviewee instead of the interviewer. With face time like this, A.J. will find a job in no time.

His co-anchor also seems to agree.

Just saw your @todayshow seg @clementeaj. Didn’t I tell you it would all work out for the better?
