February 27, 1974 – Cher filed for divorce from Sonny Bono.  Five days after the divorce became final in June 1975, she married Greg Allman.  Ten days later, she filed for divorce from Greg.

February 27, 1991 – James Brown was paroled after spending two years of a six year sentence behind bars for resisting arrest after a car chase across two states.

February 27, 2004 – A man at a supermarket in Aspen, Colorado tipped off police about a strange looking man in the store shopping with his face covered by a mask.  When police arrived on the scene he was indentified as Michael Jackson, who was in town on vacation with his children.

February 27, 1971 – Five months after her death due to a heroin overdose, Janis Joplin began a nine week run atop the Billboard Album Chart with ‘Pearl’, which contained her only #1 hit Me and Bobby McGee.
