I don’t know if I’m angry, or sad after reading the follow-up story on the Homeless guy. What do you think?
The barefoot homeless man who was the recipient of a new pair of boots, courtesy of New York Police Officer Lawrence DePrimo, is once again shoeless. On Sunday night, he was spotted barefoot on New York’s Upper West Side.
The man, identified as Jeffrey Hillman, said, “Those shoes are hidden. They are worth a lot of money. I could lose my life.”
The 54-year-old homeless man said he wasn’t quite sure what to make of all the attention he’s received, since DePrimo was photographed giving him a pair of boots he purchased from a Sketchers store on November 14th. Hillman said, “I was put on YouTube, I was put on everything without permission. What do I get? This went around the world, and I want a piece of the pie.”
While he may sound bitter, Hillman said that he is grateful for DePrimo’s random act of kindness, saying, “I appreciate what the officer did, don’t get me wrong. I wish there were more people like him in the world.”
