The “Red Dawn” Remake Goes Up Against “Rise of the Guardians”

#1.)  “Red Dawn  (PG-13)

A group of all-American high school kids form a small guerilla army called the ‘Wolverines’ when the United States is INVADED.

The 1984 original starred Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, C. Thomas Howell, Lea Thompson, and Jennifer Grey, and they were fighting Russians and Cubans who parachuted into the Midwest.

This time you’ll have to settle for Chris Hemsworth from “Thor”, Josh Hutcherson from “The Hunger Games”, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, and Connor Cruise . . . Tom Cruise’s adopted 17-year-old son.

The action has been moved to Spokane, Washington, and since the Cold War is over, the bad guys are the North Koreans.

#2.)  “Rise of the Guardians  (PG)

Santa Claus leads a super-powered team of immortals to stop the boogey man’s nightmares from robbing kids of their innocence.

Chris Pine is Jack Frost, Isla Fisher is the tooth fairy, Hugh Jackman is the Easter bunny, and Alec Baldwin is Santa . . . with a thick Russian accent.  The villain is played by Jude Law.
