After enduring Hurricane Sandy, New Jersey’s Stone Pony is still standing. But it isn’t opening for a while: Asbury Park, like most of the Jersey Shore, is currently without power.

CBS Local spoke with Stone Pony booker Kyle Brendle, who described the scene at the historic venue. “Our property’s basically OK, the outside lot the fences were torn down, and debris, but that’s all small stuff,” he said. “We found weird stuff on the roof, toilet seats, someone’s chimney…  There’s a little bit of sand and water got through our entrances, but we’re in great shape.  We’re ready to go when there’s power.  The power situation in South Jersey is undetermined, even more than weeks.”

Brendle reports that unlike New York and North Jersey, where some grids have power and others don’t. “No one has power around here. It’s day five (post-Sandy), people have had it, they’re going to South Jersey, it’s getting eerie around here. It’s getting strange.”

The gas situation is no better. He reports that he was waiting in line for gas at a station that ran out before he got to the front of the line. “My car is on the side of the road with a ton of other cars. It’s like Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome!”

Brendle says that all events at the Stone Pony scheduled for the next two weeks have been postponed (including a Leon Russell/Little Feat concert), and that the Asbury Park Music Awards, scheduled for November 8, will now take place in mid-Decmeber.
