I won’t say we saved the best for last, but David Cassidy and I were just getting warmed up when we had to end our conversation earlier this week. In this final segment he talks about being friends with Brian Wilson, writing with Harry Nilsson, his crazy schedule during the Keith Partridge days, what he learned from The Monkees (how they differed from The Partridge Family was one thing),working with The Wrecking Crew, recording I Write The Songs before Barry Manilow..and he even had the song’s writer Bruce Johnston co-produce it with him. David also talked about his involvement in the fight against Alzheimers, which his mom is currently battling. If you’re going to tonight’s show at Talking Stick, take a listen – I think you’ll appreciate it even more. And if you’re not, you’ll learn a lot more about him than you knew before.
Thanks for the time David.
Here’s David’s original version of I Write the Songs, recorded before Barry Manilow‘s version.
