On this last day for “Leo’s”, birthdays include Fred Milano (73) of The Belmonts, who had a string of hits with Dion DiMuci as well as their own , guitarist Joe Chanbers (70) of The Chambers Brothers [Time Has Come Today], singer -songwriter-producer Ron Dante (67) of The Archies, The Cuff Links, and Barry Manilow’s producer, Ian Mitchell (54) of The Bay City Rollers [Saturday Night], singer guitarist Roland Orzabal (51) of Tears For Fears [Everybody Wants To Rule the World], Bangles drummer Debbie Peterson (51) and James DeBarge (49) of DeBarge [Rhythm of the Night].

August 22, 1956 – Elvis Presley begins work on his first movie, Love Me Tender.  Originally titled “The Reno Brothers”, it was changed to take advantage of the song Elvis sang in the film.

August 22, 1962 – The first Beatles television footage was shot by Granada TV at a lunchtime session at The cavern Club in Liverpool with their new drummer Ringo Starr.

August 22, 1969 – The Beatles assembled at john Lennon’s home in Ascot, England for their last ever photo session.
