What could possibly be controversial about the Beatles first commercial single release ‘Love Me Do’, it’s a harmless pop record that started the success of the most popular group of all time.  In 1964, it became one of six #1 records they had in the United States that year.  But at the time of its initial release in 1962, many people n Britain thought its sales were rigged.

In this 1964 interview, Brian Epstein and John Lennon recalled the incident.  Keep in mind Brian’s family owned a series of record stores at the time he signed the group to a managerial contract.
