Andy Griffith’s What It Was Was Football is one of the classic comedy routines of all time, selling well over a million copies since its release in 1953.  Andy’s six-minute monologue about a country boy learning about the game of football was the jump start his career needed, because after the record’s success, he went on to success in movies, on broadway, and in television with The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock.  But it was that first record that made all the later success possible.

Here it is, in its entirety.  It you’ve heard it, you know it’s still funny almost 60 years later.  If you haven’t, you’re in for a treat.

Thanks for all the good times Andy.
