Today’s KOOL Kollective video was inspired by a listener request tonight. Paul McCartney and Wings’ “My Love” is such a great song. It was a big hit from the Red Rose Speedway album, which released in 1973.
The song is about Paul’s feelings for his late wife, Linda, who was also in the band at the time. An orchestra accompanied the group and includes a fabulous guitar solo from Henry McCullough. Believe it or not, the solo was a last-minute attempt and ad libbed by McCullough who asked Paul before recording if he could “try something else.” McCartney was a bit hesitant but allowed him to do the solo during the take and was very pleased with it.
The song reached #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 and #9 in the UK charts (singles). After selling over a million copies, the record became certified Gold.
Here’s “My Love”… Enjoy! xoxo
