June 19th birthdays include original Four Seasons guitarist Tommy DeVito (1936), Nancy Wilson (1951) of Heart, Earth Wind and Fire‘s Larry Dunn (1953), Mark DeBarge (1959) of Debarge [Rhythm of the Night] , and Paula Abdul who turns 49 today.

On this day in 1965, The Four Tops hit #1 with I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch).  Lead singer Levi Stubbs wasn’t satisfied with his vocal performance and was promised he could re-record it the following day by Motown’s Barry Gordy.  But no follow up session ever took place, and the track that became the hit was the one Levi didn’t like.  It was the second take of the song.
