The Beach Boys‘ new album is off to the fastest start in the band’s 50-year history. That’s Why God Made the Radio will debut at number-three on the Billboard 200, according to the latest SoundScan figures. None of their previous 28 releases charted as strongly in their first weeks — in fact, none of them even debuted in the Top 5. And it’s been 38 years since any Beach Boys album reached the Top 5 — the last to do so was the 1974 double-LP compilation Endless Summer.
A video for the album’s title track, “That’s Why God Made the Radio,” debuted yesterday on Vevo.com.
