I remember catching the bus in Springfield Mo. and heading to the movies on Saturday afternoons.  It cost a dime… a quarter if it were a Disney flick!

Through the years, the price of movie tickets has gone up dramatically.

Today, the average ticket price is $7.89.

Here’s a quick rundown of how much moviegoers in the past used to pay:

  • 2000 – $5.39
  • 1990 – $4.23
  • 1980 – $2.69
  • 1970 – $1.55
  • 1960 – $0.69
  • 1950 – $0.50
  • 1940 – $0.24
  • 1930 – $0.35
  • 1920 – $0.25
  • 1910 – $0.07

How much do you remember paying?
