It wouldn’t be a total surprise if you don’t know the name.  But her entertainment career as an actress, singer, and later animal rights activist, spanned through almost 50 years.  [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Doris Day[/lastfm] appeared in 39 films, recorded over 650 songs spread over 29 albums, spent 460 weeks in the Top 40 charts, and in 2004 received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  She made her last film in 1968, and completed filming her successful tv series in 1973.   As of this year, she is still ranked #6 among the top 10 box-office performers – male and female.
