Stagecoach California's Country Music Festival 2008 - Day 2

One of the pioneers of bluegrass music died yesterday.  Banjo legend [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Earl Scruggs[/lastfm] was 88.  No word on cause of death.  But, you don’t have to be a bluegrass fan to know the music of Earl Scruggs.  You’ve been hearing one of his most famous songs for years and years!  In fact, you can probably sing EVERY word.

Yep…the Beverly Hillbillies!  While the song was written and composed by Paul Henning, it was played on banjos by the duo of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lester Flatt[/lastfm] and Earl Scruggs.  The singer was [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jerry Scoggins[/lastfm].
