Chris May, 16, discovered his talent while unpacking the dishwasher at home.
He is now hoping to win an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. Bosses are checking if he is the best mug-holder they can find.
Chris said: “I was just in the kitchen emptying the dishwasher.
“I started hanging mugs off my fingers, not even thinking about it, when my friend Max said, ‘Hey, how many mugs you got there?’.
“I think I had about ten and then he said, ‘Keep going, keep going, see how many you can get.’
“In the end, I got up to 16 and Max said, ‘It’s got to be a record.'”
“We went on the Guinness World Records website and it turned out there isn’t a category for holding mugs, so I emailed an application to be the first world record holder.
“I joke that at least I will have achieved something in my life as an undisputed world record holder.”
A-level student Chris offered some advice to anyone looking to beat his record, saying: “Look at how thin the handles are.
“It’s not the size of the actual mug, just the handle.”
A spokeswoman for Guinness World Records said they were reviewing Chris’s claim, and would let him know within six weeks.
He’ll have to send them a mugshot as proof. (hehehehe)
