The Tribute That Got Bumped
People are STILL talking about [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jennifer Hudson[/lastfm]‘s tribute to [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Whitney Houston[/lastfm] at the GRAMMYs last weekend. They really did a good job of making that happen at the very last minute.
[photogallerylink id=96602 align=right]But, what you may not know is that a tribute was ALREADY planned for the show. It just wasn’t meant for Whitney. THAT tribute got bumped!
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Maceo Parker[/lastfm] is a saxophonist, best known for his work with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]James Brown[/lastfm]. According to Parker, he was scheduled to perform a tribute to the late [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Clarence Clemons[/lastfm].
A spokeswoman for the Recording Academy was unavailable for comment, while Bruce Springsteen’s spokeswoman says, “I don’t know if it’s true and I haven’t been able to get any clarification.” For the record, Clemons was recognized during the “In Memoriam” segment.
