Some prople say it was the day the music died. I say it’s the day the music became immortal. it was February 3, 1959 ,53 years ago today when [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Big Bopper[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Ritchie Valens[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Buddy Holly[/lastfm] died in a plane crash after performing at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Don McLean[/lastfm] immortalized the event in the song American Pie. I can tell you the entire story in less than 2 minutes.

I was only 10 years old when I read in the paper about the plane crash. It didnt really impact me until years later when I realized how many great songs Buddy had written.rember seeing him and the crickets on Ed Sullivan, what a sound!! They were way ahead of there time. Gone but never forgotten, hes on my hall of fame in my basement. (an album).
