Half of People Will Make Valentine’s Day Reservations More Than A Week In Advance, And Two Thirds Will Spend At Least $100
Get Busy Guys . . .
If you want to have a successful Valentine’s Day, it’s pretty simple: Plan ahead and spend more. A survey by OpenTable.com found that 53% of people plan to make Valentine’s Day reservations more than a WEEK in advance.
The good news is that you have two options this year. Valentine’s Day is on a Tuesday, which isn’t the best night for going out. Only 47% of people say they’re going to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14th.
One in four people are moving the holiday to the Saturday before, and plan to go out on February 11th instead.
If you’re not sure where to MAKE those reservations, 35% of people say Italian food is the most romantic Valentine’s Day meal. 25% said French food, 11% said American, and 8% said fondue. (???)
As for what to order if you want to get lucky, no surprises here: Three in four people say that wine or champagne is the thing that puts them most in the mood at Valentine’s dinner. Chocolate came in second at 13%.
Valentine’s Day spending is on the rise, too. 93% of people say they’ll either match the amount they spent last year, or take it up a notch. And two in three people say they’ll spend at least $100. 10% are going over $200.
