“American Idol” Premiere Ratings Were Down 18% from Last Season
The 11th season premiere of “American Idol” attracted 21.6 million viewers, which was down 18% from the 26.25 million that tuned in for last season’s premiere.
That’s the biggest premiere ratings freefall . . . from season to season . . . in the show’s history. It’s also the lowest-rated season opener since “Idol’s” first season premiere, which had 9.85 million viewers.
“Idol’s” highest-rated season premiere came in 2007 . . . when the sixth season attracted 37.4 million viewers. (–The ratings for last night’s “Idol” have not been revealed yet.)
