This would scare the you know what out of you! Last Friday a passenger on an Australian flight between Lismore and Sydney, looked down to see his iPhone glowing and smoking.
Regional Express is a major airline in Australia, and after the flight landed last week, one of the passenger’s noticed their iPhone started emitting a significant amount of dense smoke accompanied by a red glow. According to a company statement “In accordance with company standard safety procedures, the flight attendant carried out recovery actions immediatly and the red glow was extinguished successfully. All passengers and crew on board were unharmed.” So much for the covering your you know what statement by the airline, what caused the problem in the first place? you might remember Apple recalled the original Nano music player, which were reportedly at risk of overheating. Is there a connection?
So far, Apple’s mum on this latest incident. I’ll keep you posted when I hear anything more.
