Yoko Ono Plans to Fight Child Hunger with ‘Imagine’ Campaign
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Yoko Ono[/lastfm], the widow of former Beatle John Lennon, is launching a global campaign to help to raise money and awareness in the fight against childhood hunger and poverty. Called “Imagine There’s No Hunger,” Ono will partner up with Hard Rock International and WhyHunger to bring the cause to the world’s attention on November 1.
Various Hard Rock Restaurants plan on hosting events tomorrow aimed at raising awareness. If you can’t attend any of the events, you can still contribute by texting the word “Imagine” to 50555 to donate or by purchasing a limited-edition bracelet that will be on sale.
Ono asks that today (November 1) at 1pm, we all “take a moment to imagine a nourished and abundant world, where ‘the world will live as one.'” Certainly a message that Lennon would stand behind.
The event comes on the heels of what would have been Lennon’s 71st birthday early last month, as well as the 40th anniversary of his memorable hit “Imagine,” which Ono co-produced.
John Lennon “Imagine”
John Lennon has been in the news quite a bit recently. Party footage from his “Imagine” wrap party was released, his teeth were auctioned off, and he ranked highly amongst celebrities who make money from beyond the grave.
