“New Blood – Live in London” Is Peter Gabriel’s Orchestral Masterpiece
Last year [lastfm]Peter Gabriel[/lastfm] decided to add a special twist to his next project. Banning drums and guitar from his studio, Gabriel set about recording his New Blood album with a 46-piece orchestra, a move that required a complete rearrangement of each and every song. When it finally hit the stage earlier this year in London, the results were simply magical.
This week everyone can experience that concert with the release of the DVD New Blood – Live in London.
Like the New Blood album, the concert setlist ranged from classic Gabriel material (favorites like “In Your Eyes,” “Solsbury Hill” and “Biko”) to cover tunes he’d explored on his Scratch My Back album the year prior (with titles like [lastfm]Paul Simon[/lastfm]’s “The Boy In The Bubble” and [lastfm]Lou Reed[/lastfm]’s “The Power Of The Heart”).
Here’s a preview from the DVD. This is [lastfm]Peter Gabriel[/lastfm] with his New Blood Orchestra performing “Red Rain” live at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. Did we mention the whole thing was shot in 3D?!?
