The Arizona D-Backs are eliminated by the Brewers in game five of the NLDS.It took 10 innings to eliminate the D-Backs on a close fifth and final game of the series.D-Backs pitcher Ian Kennedy started the game and pitched pretty good through 6 innings but was relieved by Shaw. With the score 2 to 1 Brewers Shaw went one inning and gave up no hits and struck out the side. David Hernandez came in to relieve Shaw in the eighth and pitched for two innings with the game tied at 2. J.J. Putz came on in the tenth pitching to Carlos Gomez allowing a single. Then with a pass ball at the plate Gomez advanced to second with Nyjer Morgan at the plate. Morgan hit a grounder up the middle while Putz tried to stop the ball with his foot. With the ball going in to center field Gomez rounded third and scored on a high throw from Young. This is Milwaukee’s first victory in a postseason series since they won the AL Pennant in 1982. CONGRATULATIONS DIAMONDBACKS on an exciting season. I was at the game when the D-Backs clinched the N.L. West and at that time it felt like we won the World Series. Can’t wait til next year..”NOW ON TO FOOTBALL”.
