On Sunday we’ll get a shortened version of Jerry Lewis‘ famed annual MDA Labor Day Telethon — without Lewis, and not on Labor Day. The 85-year-old, who has been in poor health, had planned on a pre-recorded performance of his signature song “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” but that was called off. This year’s hosts are Nancy O’Dell, Nigel Lythgoe, journalist Jann Carl and Alison Sweeney. Instead of the usual 21-plus hour ordeal, they’ll preside over a six-hour version, airing Sunday from 6 p.m. to midnight in each time zone. Celebrities include Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Darius Rucker, Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum, Richie Sambora and Jordin Sparks.
Do you remember they year that Dean Martin surprised Jerry onstage during the telethon in 1977? It was the first time in years that they spoke to each other, let alone met face-to-face.
