From Kevin Bacon in 1984 to Kenny Wormald in 2011 “Footloose” Still Rocks!
My daughter Chelsey is an Arizona Cardinals Cheerleader and as a member of the Cardinals Junior Cheer Program she and guests were invited for a Special Screening of Footloose at the Harkins Theater in the Chandler Mall. The movie pretty much followed the original movie line from 1984. Writer/Director Craig Brewer delivers a new take of the “Beloved” 1984 classic film “Footloose.” Ren MacCormack (played by newcomer Kenny Wormald) is transplanted from Boston to the small southern town of Bomont where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock. A few years earlier, the community was torn by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out partying and dancing. Bomont’s local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid) responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit..YOU GOT IT” Loud Music and Dancing!” Not one to bow down to the status quo, Ren challenges the ban and of course revitalizes the town and falls in love with the Preachers daughter Ariel,Not the Mermaid,Julianne Hough and the party is on! By the way Julianne Hough is superb in her debut as an actress! I totally recommend this movie and most of the language goes right over the pre tweens heads!
