In what was supposed to be a “Too Broke for Sturgis Rally” gunshots bring and abrupt end to a three day gathering at Mormon Lake!
At 11:20 Friday night gunshots rang out. When Coconino County Sheriffs and detectives arrived it appeared be a murder suicide.They found three of the victims in front of a camper trailer while a dead male was found away from the group with a handgun close to his hand. A second dead man was found with multiple gunshot wounds while two females were both seated in camping chairs in front of the trailer. One was pronounced dead at the scene and the other, who had been shot six times, was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center in critical condition. One bystander Ken Daniels ” no kin to Jack” was about 200 feet away from the campsite when the shootings occurred. Daniels said “I heard about seven rounds go off amid the evening live music and hundreds of tents, which was normally described as a party atmosphere”! Property owners decided to close the event, and people were streaming out of the campgrounds early Saturday morning.
